Cafe Jose’s Golden Nugget coffee available at retail is sourced exclusively from 100% Certified fairtrade coffee produced by fairtrade suppliers. We believe in sourcing coffee that meets fairtrade standards because we know that without our suppliers, our own business would not exist. Our suppliers in Tarrazu are almost exclusively small family owned farms, which we identify with as a family owned coffee roaster. Their well being and ours are interrelated in ways that exceed the opportunities provided by international coffee markets. Purchasing coffee that meets fairtrade standards require that we pay slightly more than market price and does so much more than ensure fair wages, quality healthcare and education; Cafe Jose sees it as an investment in the community that encourages farmers’ to emphasize quality and prioritize our needs after each harvest.
