Description
One 2 lb (32 oz) bag of Honey Process Tarrazu Coffee Medium Roast, packaged as Whole Bean. This is an exclusive bean whose flavor complexity and smoothness is made possible by the unique process of separating pulp from the coffee bean using a pulping machine, then letting the bean dry for a short period before a final wash. The pulp congeals on the bean infusing it with greater flavor complexity such as stone fruit, floral and deeper chocolate and nutty notes. It is a more labor intense process than the more common water washing of beans that’s also more sustainable because of limited use of water (unliked most washed beans).
Grind at home to fit your taste and brewing equipment perfectly.
High quality, specialty grade strict hard beans (SHB) grown in the Tarrazu coffee growing region of Costa Rica. SHB is the highest quality designation for beans that grow small and hard at high elevation. Our honey process tarrazu coffee, medium roast, features the same high quality beans as our regular coffees, but with the additional richness left by the coffee berry as it dries on the bean.
Tarrazu features high elevations of 5,000 ft. or more, volcanic soil and coil, moist air. These conditions lead to a bean that yields rich flavor that nevertheless is smooth and never bitter.
Tasting notes: a body of stone fruit, hazelnut, citrus and floral hints, with a hazelnut, caramel and chocolate finish
Roasted in fresh monthly batches in Massachusetts. Directly sourced from 9 cooperatives comprising 5,000 farms of various sizes
